Appalling lack of Leadership
We experience a complete lack of leadership from the diocese and from the Anglican Church in general. Instead we have aimless and sometime unintelligible directives from them that bear little relationship to the daily lives of our parishioners. Some four years ago a few days before Christmas fire broke out in a house in the village in which two children and their mother sadly died, leaving only the husband and his mother, who was staying for Christmas, alive. To compound an already desperate situation a day or so later a young girl from another village in the benefice was killed on the Lincoln bypass returning from playing in a concert in Lincoln. Our incumbent, Revd Mandy Cartwright was clearly under huge emotional pressure having to deal simultaneously with these two terrible tragedies. The funerals took place on two consecutive days after Christmas. A Sunday or two later I, as churchwarden asked her if the Bishop or anyone from the diocese had been in touch offering to help. Her reply was that the Bishop’s chaplain phoned her a week later. That is a typical example of the appalling lack of leadership that she continually receives.
