What Parish?
I have been part of my Parish church for 50 or so years. My Church is a small 11C village Church.
Before Covid I wrote to my vicar if it was possible to have one service each month at 10 am instead of 9.30 am ‘ Most elderly people in my church cannot make it to church at this early time. No reply received as it is all about bums on seats. My children went to my church , were married in that church, went to the Church village school.
I myself am 82 now and since Covid have also been unable to get to church by 9.30 as I am am old. I am slow . My vicar serves 3 churches and East Budleigh is small and of little interest to him compared to the modern bigger , newer church in Budleigh Salterton.
Why do we have so many Bishops with Archdeacons looking after Bishops and assistant Arch Deacons looking after the the Archdeacons while the villages go without a priest .
We are neglected and becoming more of an ancient historical building than the house of God.
Sir Walter Raleigh was born in East Budleigh and worshipped in All Saints. The church shouts that from the tower !!
History again !!
Yours sincerely Hanneke Coates
